Safety
Venn is a platform for anonymous 1-on-1 text conversations. These guidelines exist to keep it a space where adults can have genuine, interesting exchanges.
Age requirement
Venn is strictly for users 18 years of age or older. By using this service, you confirm that you meet this requirement. Users who appear to be under 18 should leave immediately.
Community guidelines
The following conduct is prohibited on Venn:
- Harassment and threats — do not send threatening, abusive, or harassing messages. Every user can skip or stop at any time.
- Unsolicited explicit content — do not send sexually explicit text or links without the other person's consent. Venn is not an adult content platform.
- Personal information requests — do not ask for or share real names, addresses, phone numbers, or other identifying information. Both parties are anonymous for good reason.
- Hate speech and discrimination — language targeting people based on race, religion, gender, sexuality, nationality, or disability is not permitted.
- Illegal activity — do not use Venn to coordinate, discuss, or facilitate illegal activity of any kind.
- Spam and bots — automated or scripted use of the platform is not permitted.
How to stay safe
- Never share personal identifying information — your real name, location, phone number, social media handles, or workplace.
- Trust your instincts. If a conversation feels wrong, click Stop. You owe no one a continued conversation.
- Do not follow up with strangers outside the platform based on a single chat session.
- If someone is pressuring you or making you uncomfortable, stop the chat immediately.
Skipping and stopping
Every conversation on Venn can be ended at any time:
- Skip — ends the current chat and queues you for a new match immediately after a short countdown.
- Stop — ends the chat and returns you to the stopped screen, from which you can choose to find someone new or exit.
There are no consequences for ending conversations. Use these controls freely.
Reporting
Venn does not retain chat logs. All conversations are ephemeral — when a session ends, the content is gone from our systems. If you encounter persistent problematic behavior, you can contact us at the email listed in our terms of service. Because chats are not stored, we cannot review conversation history, but patterns reported by multiple users inform our moderation approach.
Content moderation
Venn employs automated rate limiting and basic content monitoring on the infrastructure level. We do not employ human moderators reviewing live conversations. Users are responsible for their own behavior and for leaving conversations they find harmful.
